The Christmas Markets have returned! Throughout the UK’s greatest cities, merry market-goers are tasting their first gluhwein of the season and feasting on foot long spicy hot dogs, just as tradition dictates.
We love the Christmas markets and to celebrate them popping up again here’s a few things you’re guaranteed to see at each one:
Social drinking at any time of day
“Baileys Hot Chocolate at 10am? Why not, it is Chris-er…mid November”
Candles so scented they’ll knock you off your feet
“That’s sent me dizzier than the Baileys!”
Flagrant disregard for health and safety rules
Yep, that’s raw meat dripping on to cooked meat…
Stands that are a little too clean and fancy to fit in
A mix of the traditional…
…and the not so traditional
Nerds love Christmas too!
A mix of cultures
Enough sweets to make Willy Wonka jealous
These are basically diabetes on a stick
Creepy knock-offs of famous characters
“Oh look, it’s Wunnie The Poot”
Pictures of Audrey Hepburn for some reason
Always Audrey. Always.
Food you could easily get at the supermarket for a tenth of the price
“While I’m here though…”
Some truly shocking shop names
“Ohh just the cheese. I get it. Err…no, wait. Do I get it? Is it a pun? Just the…nope. Sod it, where’s that Baileys hut got to?”
Attempts to take the marketplace back from the Germans
Lots of tat
Some half-hearted tat
Some serious tat
“Ooh, wouldn’t that look nice in someone else’s house?”
Some brilliant market sellers
And plenty of food
“These would all be lovely with a Baileys hot chocolate!”
