This is my favorite picture from last years wives Xmas do – the blokey happens to be my husband. I had a fantastic evening with the girls and then a lovely stroll along the beach on the way home – and then my friend shared this picture with me the next day that shows even after 17 years my hubby still has the look of love for me!.

This is my husband 40 years ago in his school nativity play as one of the Shepherds. He’s the sweetest, shyest chappy ever and was absolutely mortified when one of my friends who he had been at school with sent me this photo over Facebook last Christmas…It made my day though!!

Every year my kids put up our neighbour, Elsie’s tree. She is 94 and has no local family so spends Christmas Day with us. Her tree is over 70 years old! Last year we had Derek too who lives next door to Elsie and wowed us with celebrity gossip!

I start feeling really Christmassy at the Christingle service on Christmas Eve, the children light candles in oranges and take part in an impromptu nativity and then we go to the local pub for a festive tipple. It’s my favourite part of Christmas as it’s all about the anticipation of the big day.

Ruby decorating her own tree, we couldn’t put one up last year as she would have definitely been swinging from it most days!

My favourite Christmas moment was the birth of our daughter, Eleanor Star on Christmas Day 2000. Although I ended up with a cheese salad for my Christmas Dinner, it was such a special day. The nurses gave us a special teddy for her and every year I make a birthday cake for her instead of a Christmas cake. She is our Christmas ‘star’.

We are a huge family and every year Christmas we have our annual Christmas Jumper and Hat Selfie. We love Christmas and really go that extra mile to create a wonderful experience for all the family.

Christmas is a very special time in our home because last year my husband and I decided to have someone who is alone on Christmas day, to spend it with us. Last Christmas our elderly neighbour joined us in this wonderful celebration, and this year, we look forward to having a single mum with 6 little ones to join us in Christmas fun. We are not very religious family but, on this special day we always say a little prayer to thank for everything we have and to wish all the luck and happiness to those who need it.

This is me with my fabulous daughter-in-law Aimee. For the past few years she’s organised a great Christmas celebration at her and my son Paul’s house. Lots of food, games and music. We do Secret Santa to keep the cost down and wear Christmas jumpers (I made my own light-up one). This year is going to be extra special because Paul and Aimee had a gorgeous baby girl, Darcey in July and made me a very happy Grandmother.

Oh it would be the moment Santa bought me (age 5) a doll’s house, its funny as I still have this somewhere in the loft, it holds special memories of those carefree days, in fact I shall have to get my son in the loft to sort out and let my children and grandson see it. I love the TV behind me.

When my daughter came home and told me she was going to be a traveller in her first nativity I was enthusiastic as I could be, wow travellers were very important etc. The next day she told me she was Mary because the girl who had been Mary got stage fright, needless to say the poor travellers were soon forgotten, travellers what are they my baby go the star role, cue big headed mum moment 😀
