Competition: Where’s Santa?!

By Friday, October 9, 2015 413 1

The build up to Christmas has started. There’s no escaping from it. It’s October, the shops are stocking stockings and decorations. This means good ol’ Saint Nick is going to have to get back to work pretty soon. Our question is… What has he been doing for the last year? Has he gone somewhere tropical this whole time? Is he backpacking through Europe? Maybe he stopped over at Disneyland, the possibilities are endless.

That’s why we’re going to leave it to you to figure out where he might have been. Type in the comments section below where your answer to the question ‘Where has Santa been spending his time all year’ and the most creative, funny or obscure answer could win you one of our beautiful 7ft 2in Warm White Blossom Trees.

The competition will close at midnight on Sunday 18/10/2015 and we will announce our favourite answer and the winner the following day. We will also be awarding a 10% discount to the top ten answers to be used on their next order with us.

Gardens and Homes Direct reserves the right to remove any answers deemed inappropriate or offensive. Entrants must reside within the UK.

Good Luck!

Santa loves to holiday in Las Vegas. He especially loves to ‘chill out’ at the Blackjack table

Contrary to popular belief, Santa actually prefers cold weather to warm, hence one of the reasons he took his job in the first place. He spent his holidays after Christmas in Alaska and while there he thought he would combine business with pleasure and see who he could find doing naughty things. He was kept very busy during his holiday making a note of all the people who found it fun to shoot majestic animals such as moose and bears for sport and just “because”. He was very glad he had decided not to bring Rudolph, what with his unusual nose, he would surely have been an easy target! Santa is now amending his list and adding such people to the Naughty list with the capital “N” not the naughty list with the small “n”. He had so much fun tripping over the “hunters” wherever he could, scaring away the animals so they couldn’t be shot, and eating the honey meant to tempt bears to a cruel death, that he made a quick detour on his way home and stopped by the way of Minnesota where he may or may not have spray painted “RIP Cecil” on a certain dentists door….

Santa was suppose to deliver a 6 ft fiber optic tree to me last Christmas 2014 I paid for it about $80.00 and I have NEVER received it. Tried to call but you didn’t post all your phone numbers for an out of country call. If you were not going to deliver my tree because I live in the United states or what??? You should refund my money. Linda Mathieu 5100 Remington road, moss point, Mississippi 39562. United states.

      Hi Linda,

We e-mailed you back in November to let you know that there would be an extra carriage charge on your order to deliver it to the United States.

By January time we had not heard back from you and we did, in fact, refund you in full.

The £85.98 that you paid was refunded back to your card on the 14th January.

I’m assuming from this comment that you never received our e-mail. I can only apologise for this, I’m not sure why that would be.

In any case, this tree is still in stock on our website. We would be very pleased if you would still like to order it from us for use this year. However, there would be an extra carriage charge as you are in the States. Please e-mail us at customer.services@christmastreesandlights.co.uk and we will sort this out for you.

Santa actually spends his holibobs “off world” on the planet Venus. He goes to Venus, because its quite warm there, some might say hot, which for santa makes a lovely change from the cold of the north pole.

But still why Venus? well because Venus isnt too far away as sleigh speed and has thick clouds around it in the atomoshphere to stop that nosy hubble telescope spying on him and catching him if he fancies a spot of skinny dipping- you know yourself what the papparazzi are like and a santa skinny dipping would be just too much. As well as being outside of his job description being caught with his pants down so to speak could get him the sack and i don’t mean one with toys in it, and due to austerity measures his understudy has been made redundant, so if santa gets sacked there would be no christmas and he simply could not bear the shame as it has been a family tradition, handed down from his great great great great great great great… and many more more hundred greats, grandfathers who have always kept on time and scandal free.

Of course in the past there was no such thing as hubble to spy on venus like there is in the modern day, the best they could spot was the vapour trails of his sleigh as he fine tuned it and sped around venus on test runs.

People then thought these were caused by Volcanoes spewing how gas and molten rock around- which was fine as far as santa was concerned because it stopped them asking lots of awkward questions and looking too closely and certainly put them off from sending manned probes as they are hoping to do for mars, at least for a long time yet.

So that is where santa goes for his holidays, as the bathing pools all contain warm water nothing icy and cold like the north sea or the arctic and somewhere he can- at least for the time being enjoy a bit of solitude, one of the best things is, there are no mobile phone masts on Venus so those pesky elves of his cannot keep calling him up about every little thing, and he truly does get lots of rest. Well lets face it he needs it, its not an easy job delivering to billions of houses and homes, all in a 24 hour night.

Santa thought he would mix things up this year, he decided on a few music festivals to get him into the swing of spring/summer then to mellow him out after all the dancing he caught flight to Thailand to ride some elephants and to try a few of their kooky delicacies.
Once summer was over he thought a trip to the cobbles was in order as he always fancied pulling a pint in the rovers and was quite rosy cheeked when he met a few the crew.
However Christmas is creeping up and his beard has fluffed up and his boots are dusted off, he knows it’s time to go check on the elves and check the progress of the toys for all those children that’s gotten into the nice list. He’s asked Mrs Claus to make his bottoms bigger this year and with elastic waist as last year the kids were leaving him double the mince pies

Santa has spent all year so far on various cruise ships having dancing lessons and also practising his dancing in normal clothes and dancing shoes (well you can’t dance in those black hobnailed boots, the girls toes would suffer) just in case he should be invited to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, which of course he is desperate to do. Particularly as he knows it’s a jolly good way of losing weight and he has put on a bit what with all the sherry and mince pies. Still, there’s always next year. Keep dancing Santa!
