Top Tip #4: What’s Trending for Christmas 2014?

By Friday, October 3, 2014 1 1

Well, you could say it’s coming straight from the reindeer’s mouth (excuse the pun!), but our latest advice on what’s hot, and what’s not, for Christmas 2014 is certainly going to help you blaze an inspirational trail ahead of the rest this winter. Think about those mundane, tired looking and altogether mismatched decorations that you have stored away in the loft or garage. Okay, maybe not, the pure thought of having to unveil them to your unsuspecting wider friends and family will probably give everyone a nightmare.

For your 2014 festivities, how about opting for a stand out trend that’ll keep you right up to date with everything for the next few years?

1. Frosted Theme

A touch of frost will certainly add a touch of class to your decorations this year. With white having been the popular choice for several seasons, experts are now hinting towards the frosted theme as being the number one choice for years to come. Elegant, graceful and extremely atmospheric, a flocked frosted Christmas tree should be used as a focal point to your living room. Next, add the finishing touches with a frosted glacier wreath to help adorn your staircase.

2. Sharp & Chic

Forget the conventional contours and colours of Christmas. Instead, buck the trend this winter and choose brighter rather than softer tones. Additionally, think about ditching the classical shapes by electing to go for something slightly braver. It’s often difficult to throw caution to the wind at such a  traditional time of the year, but we believe this neon spiral tree is the ultimate in modern chic, but without straying too far from confinements of Christmas.

3. Au’ Naturel

If you prefer your Christmas with warm and rustic tones, whereby you can already smell the warm Gluhwein, then it’s good news for you – 2014 seems to be the year of the natural look. Be prepared to see plenty of neutral tones and simple designs, as less certainly seems to be more this season. Entwined in a clean glow of LED lights, natural cane twigs are already set to become a firm favourite amongst home-owners over the next few months.

4. Red and Green

As expected, critics have suggested a long awaited return to the nostalgia and vintage trends of yesteryear. Although we’re not, for one second, dismissing The Snowman collection, this winter it’s very much about red and green. Take an alternative approach with chevrons or polka dots, but maybe you prefer to strip it all back to basics with the addition of some natural pine cones. Whatever your route, red and green appear to be a popular choice this season.
